Nearby Computing participates in the 5G Catalunya project, which is developed by a consortium of eight companies led by Cellnex Telecom and the MASMOVIL Group, along with Catalan operator Parlem Telecom, Aumenta Solutions, a company specializing in Augmented Reality (AR) for industry, Atos, Nae consultancy, and Lenovo.

Sobre el proyecto 5G Cataluña

El proyecto 5G Catalunya ha sido uno de los adjudicatarios de la segunda convocatoria de ayudas al desarrollo de pilotos 5G lanzada a finales de 2019 por Red.es, entidad del Ministerio de Asuntos Económicos y Transformación Digital, en el marco del Plan Nacional 5G. La iniciativa cuenta con la cofinanciación del Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER).

El proyecto que dio su inicio en el Q3 del 2020 y finalizará en el Q1 del 2023, cuenta con un presupuesto global de 5,4 millones de euros el 40% de los cuales será financiado por Red.es y se realizará en colaboración con el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona; Mobile World Capital Barcelona a través de la iniciativa 5G Barcelona, Fira Barcelona, i2cat, Seat y la escuela de negocios IESE.

Sustainable 5G deployment model for future mobility in the Mediterranean Cross-Border Corridor

The 5GMED Project aims to bring a sustainable 5G deployment model for future mobility in the Mediterranean Cross-Border Corridor enabled by a multi stakeholder compute and network infrastructure deployed by MNOs, neutral hosts, and road and rail operators, based on 5G and offering support for AI functions. NBC provides the e2e cross-border orchestration and enables the network slicing in such scenarios.

Affordable5G aims at creating a 5G network that will deliver a complete, disaggregated and affordable solution covering the needs of private and enterprise networks through technical innovation that span across all parts of the 5G network including Radio Access, Edge, 5G Core and Orchestration. NBC is responsible for the network orchestration and the service execution in one of the Affordable5G experimental platforms.

Demonstration of 5G solutions for SMART energy GRIDs of the future

Smart5Grid leverages on the concepts of 5G MEC, 5G SBA, network slicing, and ETSI MANO network management, in order to enable the vision of “5G empowering the energy sector” and to allow the roll-out of extended and highly demanding NetApps on top of a 5G mobile network infrastructure. NBC provides the NetApp controller, which constitutes the entry point of the NetApps in the network and controls their lifecycle.
