He co-founded Nearby Computing as a spin-off of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, where he headed the Data-Centric Computing research group, and is an associate professor of computer architecture at UPC, currently on extended leave. His research on data centre optimisation and workload orchestration has produced more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, an ERC Starting Grant, and the Spanish Royal Academy of Engineering's Agustín de Betancourt medal for young researchers in 2018. He has led industrial collaborations with IBM, Microsoft, Intel and Cisco, and was a Visiting Research Scholar at IBM Watson.

Georgina leads global sales, marketing and the partner ecosystem, and joined Nearby Computing in May 2025.
